There are many reasons why you must not update your iDevice to iOs 7. The few being the following:
Apps not updates yet
There are many apps in the App Store which haven't been updated or made iOs 7 friendly. The developers of most of the apps haven't been able to bring the updates to the bridge yet so if you don't want any problem in using your favorite app then you need to wait until an iOs 7 compatible update comes.
Bugs and minor errors
It is likely for iOs 7 to have some bugs and minor errors in the firmware, like in iOs 6 version there were few bugs which made Home button stop working or even made problem with wifi or 3G connectivity. So keep up with the wait for a while.
Research for problems with iOs 7
If you wait for a day or 2 most people will update their blogs with the problems they are facing with iOs 7, so you can get a brief if you still want to wait or just update to iOs 7 anyway.
These are basic things which can help you stay at safer side rather than dumping your iDevice in some pit of bug or error or just any looped update for an app.
Most importantly don't update your iDevice by the iDevice's Software Update but download the firmware from Apple with iTunes and then update. And yeah don't forget to backup your iDevice to your laptop or desktop. Have a great time with your iDevice and iOs 7.
